Lights, Camera, Gratitude: Celebrating Our 3rd Annual Drive-In Movie Night Fundraiser!
What an absolutely spectacular evening under the stars! Our 3rd Annual Drive-In Movie Night Fundraiser on August 12th was an undeniable success, bringing together a fantastic crowd of dedicated Buena Vista locals and visiting tourists alike. There is nothing quite like the timeless magic of an outdoor drive-in movie to bring a community together, and this year’s special event proved once again just how supportive, enthusiastic, and wonderfully generous our town truly is.
From the moment the first cars began pulling into the venue, the atmosphere was charged with warmth, excitement, and anticipation. Families arrived early to set up lawn chairs in truck beds, kids settled in with cozy blankets, and the clear, mountain air was filled with laughter and friendly conversation as neighbors caught up with one another.
A Classic Feature Under the Colorado Stars
This year, we had the privilege of screening the high-flying summertime classic, Top Gun: Maverick. As the sun dipped behind the breathtaking mountains and the big screen lit up against the twilight, attendees were treated to an unforgettable cinematic experience. Watching such an action-packed, iconic film in the comfort of our community drive-in setup was truly a highlight of the late summer season for moviegoers of all ages.
Of course, no classic movie night is complete without incredible food! Thanks to our vibrant concession stand, the delicious smell of fresh, hot popcorn filled the air all evening long. Between the gate entry admissions and the nonstop activity at the concession stands, the generosity of our community flowed faster than the butter on our popcorn! Every single snack purchased, every cold drink enjoyed, and every admission ticket bought went directly toward supporting our ongoing mission and serving local families in need.
Honoring Our Premier Wingmen
An extraordinary community fundraiser like this simply cannot happen without dedicated local partners and sponsors who step up to champion the cause behind the scenes. We want to extend a massive, heartfelt shout-out to our premier wingmen for the evening:
-
REAL Brokers of Colorado & Canyon Title Company: Thank you both so much for officially sponsoring the night! Your generous corporate partnership and deep commitment to local community efforts made this entire movie night experience possible from the ground up.
-
Cornerstone Church: We owe a massive debt of gratitude to Cornerstone Church for generously loaning us their incredible food truck for the event. Having such a functional, top-notch setup allowed our hardworking volunteers to serve delicious food and fresh concessions smoothly throughout the entire night.
-
The Groys: A huge, warm thank you to the Groys for allowing us to rent the Comanche venue! The location provided the absolute perfect backdrop for an outdoor drive-in theater experience under the starry Colorado sky.
The Heart Behind the Fun
While the film, the venue, and the food made for a phenomenal evening, the true heart of the night was the overwhelming support shown for our organization. Every dollar raised through this annual movie night fundraiser directly fuels our daily programs, allowing us to offer essential resources, compassionate support, and vital assistance to pregnant women, young parents, and growing families throughout Chaffee County.
When you choose to spend your evening with us at an event like this, you are doing so much more than enjoying a fun Saturday night with your family—you are actively investing in the well-being, health, and future of local mothers, fathers, and children. Your presence makes a real, tangible difference.
Thank You, Buena Vista!
To everyone who drove in, brought their kids, purchased concessions, made donations, or helped spread the word across town: Thank you! You proved once again that Buena Vista truly has the warmest, most compassionate community around.
We are already looking ahead and making big plans for next year’s outdoor cinematic adventure. Keep an eye out for future announcements, save up your appetite for popcorn, and we can’t wait to see you at the movies again next summer!
